This is a natural response to stress, and it's your body's way of preparing you to face a challenge. However, when these feelings of worry and fear become overwhelming and persistent, even when there's no immediate threat, it can be a sign of anxiety.

How to Support Someone or Yourself with Anxiety

Listen and Validate: Offer a listening ear without judgment. Validate their feelings by acknowledging their anxiety and expressing empathy.

Avoid Minimizing Their Feelings: Avoid saying things like "just relax" or "it's all in your head." These statements can be dismissive and unhelpful.

Offer Practical Support: Support them with tasks that may be overwhelming for them, such as falling asleep, appointments, or activities.

Be Patient: Understand that managing anxiety can be a long process. Be patient and offer consistent support.

Encouraging Open Communication: Create a safe space for your child to talk about their fears and worries.

Modeling Healthy Coping Strategies: Show your child how to manage anxiety by practicing healthy coping strategies yourself.
